UMBY
Most of Insurance binders died in the screen. Umber Line did not.
Pilots are named and redacted. The waitlist is not. a short list people already asked.
Umber Line — A permissioned netting engine for trading venues and brokers that are already licensed. It reduces what has to settle. It is not a new CCP, and it is not a collateral token.
Screened, not yet in sprint. Treat every number as provisional. Calendar access is not automatic.
Heat 26 of 99. Hot windows do not stay hot. They close.
Diligence, not a prospectus. RCA Pad does not allocate, take orders, or close funding. If this company raises, it raises with its own counsel.

Why the desk took it
No policy-as-token in the revenue model.
Traction
Founded 2024, headquartered in Belfast. No named paying pilot on the file yet — that is the first question. 2 nodes or connected surfaces reported. Desk diligence score 68/100. Two licensed PSPs on a paid pilot — identities off the public file. Counsel is named, even if the memo is still a draft. Unnamed counsel is how files die.

Guidewire is the system of record. This is the slip between markets. They sell a fee the customer already pays a slower vendor for. TAM is that invoice, not a token float.
The brief
You can wait for a sticker. The named customer did not. They are writing into this record while the rest of the market argues about a comment period.
The bet is narrow. A named Belfast buyer already has budget for this invoice. Umber Line wins if it is cheaper than the internal build and cleaner than the protocol pitch. It loses if a founder later wants a public book. The window is the time you have to decide which it is.
On a Tuesday in Belfast, an exception posts back into the customer’s existing case system. Nobody opens a side spreadsheet. That is the product: the night someone in ops does not stay late.
From ops
US persons are outside the audience. A form that asks “are you accredited?” without verification is not an exemption.
From the screen
A dual-control drill exists on paper. Production evidence is the next artefact, not a tweet.
From the pilot
The legal source of truth stays with the incumbent register, admin, or custodian. Umber Line does not attest to its own facts.
The window
Founders who want a pack this tight apply. Readers who wait get a closed stamp.
The incumbent copy takes a year. The named customer is already writing into this record.
We do not allocate. We do not take a cut. We will not hold the window open for you.
Window
Closed
Closed. History only — not a place to buy.
Renewal is the round. If nobody renews, there is no company. A token would not fix that.

T+1 and capital rules make gross settlement expensive. Venues will buy netting as a service before they will buy a new licence.
Post-trade cost is a line on every broker P&L. A 10% cut in settlement fails is a CFO conversation.
Versus the field
A generalist vendor can copy the slide in a quarter. They cannot copy the named record, the scheme map, or the auditor conversation. That is the year they would have to buy.
Belfast being the city does not make local retail a default audience. Communications capable of inducing investment activity still have a promotions problem.
How it works

If they raise
Not a token float. A budget against work. RCA Pad still takes 0% of proceeds.
Certifications & adapters
29%
The remaining certifications and the second named market.
Named operators
23%
Adapter work against the incumbent register, admin, or custodian.
Counsel & perimeter
16%
Dual-control drills, key ceremonies, and the person who owns them.
Claims & campaign ops
32%
Hiring the operator who already does this job at a licensed firm.

One live binder a carrier will show their auditor.
Counsel is named, even if the memo is still a draft. Unnamed counsel is how files die.
A round, if any, sits with their providers. This pad does not take the order.

Readiness
Six things a serious buyer asks. 100 is “ready to take to counsel and a customer.”
Risks
The one that actually kills it
Extending the record into a market that is still restricted is how a clean Belfast story becomes a fact pattern. The restricted list exists for a reason: Global public.
If a regulator reads this as clearing, the licence problem is existential.
That ask has been refused on files like this. It should stay refused.
Who eats the loss? If the answer is ‘the protocol’, there is no protocol that can.
CCPs can copy the netting logic faster than a startup can collect members.
If Umber Line looks like it is taking risk, it needs a licence. The file says it does not. Keep it that way.
A later round that wants a public token puts Umber Line in a different perimeter. The file treats that as a hard stop.

Too early to talk about a round on this pad. Screen first. A path has to be named by counsel before anyone should wire.
Where they can operate
Named markets are where a sentence is allowed. Restricted is where it is not. This is not a worldwide offering.

Who can decide
Luca Nair (Chief executive) will take a 30-minute call and decide budget. If the only person who can accept “we are not opening a sale” is a silent co-founder in another time zone, this company would not be on the board.
Year two is a second named market and the remaining certifications — still permissioned. It is not a public book. A public book would be a different company.
