Named geographies, or you do not have an audience · Kick-off
Locks are written down so they can be used against us
Day 0 writes the matrix into the engagement. Geographies become a lock. Exclusions become a lock. If the founder later wants to “test a US public thread,” the lock is there to lose the argument. That is what it is for. A lock that cannot survive enthusiasm was a suggestion.
Vellum’s lock: United Kingdom professional, EU professional, no US public. Northline’s: United Kingdom professional, EU. Those locks determine the site, the roster, the partner intros, the founder stage talk. They also determine the incident: a draft that ignores the lock is not a creative difference. It is a breach of kick-off.
Owners are named because a lock without an owner is a poster. Who can add a market? Almost no one, and only with counsel and a rewritten row. Who can take a channel down? A person with a phone, not a Discord vote.
What a lock changes
If nothing in the pack changes when the geography changes, the lock was decorative.
