Named geographies, or you do not have an audience · Channels
One account is not one audience
Social platforms collapse the matrix. A single handle is followed by professionals in London, consumers in Manchester, persons in the United States, and a cloud of accounts that are none of those. Treating that handle as “the community” is how a professional update becomes a cross-border invitation. Options: do not use the handle for campaign claims; geo-restrict with honest humility about screenshots; keep sentences so small they survive the mix; or do not run campaign claims there at all.
We prefer small sentences and fewer channels to geotargeting theatre. A site footer that says there is no public token sale, a data room for named counterparties, a founder interview with a professional trade desk — those can be locked. A viral thread cannot. If the Sprint needs virality to work, the Sprint needs a different house.
Creators inherit the collapse. Their following is a mix whether or not their bio says “not for US persons.” Roster seats require a geography they will honour, knowing honour is imperfect. Imperfect plus a prohibited list plus takedown is still better than a mega-account with a wink.
Channel hygiene
- 01Campaign claims prefer channels you can describe.
- 02Personal founder accounts are channels if they will be used as such.
- 03Community servers need a handbook, not a hope.
- 04If you cannot take it down, do not put it up.
- 05Screenshots travel. Design for the screenshot.
