Named markets, or you do not have an offering audience

Jurisdiction, sophistication and promotion route are the matrix. “Global retail” fails all three at once. A regulated posture names who may hear, and is silent to the rest — including the algorithm that would like to help.

A launch has no such thing as a general public that is safe to address with a single paragraph. It has markets, and those markets have rules, and those rules do not care that your designer wanted one hero line. Name the geography before you name the message. If you cannot, pause.

Matrix · Chapter 01

Three axes, not a persona workshop

Age, pains and a stock photograph will not keep a professional site from becoming a consumer invitation.

Audience work in consumer tech is a persona workshop. Audience work on a crypto-asset offering is a matrix. Jurisdiction. Sophistication. Promotion route. You can still have a sentence about who the product is for. You cannot let that sentence replace the matrix. The matrix is what keeps a UK professional page from becoming a consumer invitation by accident, and a product tweet from becoming a US general solicitation by enthusiasm.

Jurisdiction is the named market. Sophistication is professional, qualified, accredited, institutional, or consumer — using counsel’s words. Promotion route is how a communication is allowed to meet that person, if at all. Uncertain route: pause. Record the pause. Pauses are decisions. Silence that is not recorded becomes, later, “we didn’t think about it,” which is also a fact.

Name the market before the message. UK retail-facing, US public offering language, and “global” socials are different routes.
